Most essential tips to keep your white sheets white
This post has been created with the assistance of Jacqueline Nelson, the founder of Blanche Rose. If her name sounds familiar, it’s because Jacqueline is the former CEO of her iconic family business HouseHold Linens.
There is nothing like jumping into a freshly made bed with clean white sheets. We
asked Jacqueline for her best tips to keep your sheets looking and feeling the best.
Wash frequency
Wash your sheets once or twice a week, depending on your requirements. It’s best to have
at least two sets of sheets. This way, you can rotate them and give them time to breathe
between uses.
Spot clean
Pre-treat stubborn stains (e.g., mascara) prior to machine washing. Dab a little bit of
dishwashing liquid on the stain first. Then add cold water and lightly rub until
the stain is gone. Finally, rinse the stained area thoroughly.
Soak
Soak your white sheets and towels overnight in cold water with a stain remover (e.g.
NapiSan Vanish). This will loosen any dirt before you put them in your washing machine.
Machine wash
Wash your sheets separately and keep whites with whites. Cold wash with a mild
detergent, but don’t use too much! Avoid cramming in your sheets as they need space in
the washing machine to clean properly. Avoid fabric softeners as they build up a film,
reduce breathability and weaken the fabric over time.
Line dry
Sunshine will make your sheets look and feel great. If you must use a clothes dryer, take
them out when only 80% dry and fold them straight away.
Iron
Take your sheets off the line when they are still slightly damp to iron any creases
easily. Fold them in four and iron one side and then the other. Hang them out in the sun or
a warm room to air and finish drying. Make sure they are completely dry before putting
them away in a dry place.

Coming soon – natural cleaning products for a healthy home
Most cleaning products contain toxins harmful to our health and the environment. Some include chemicals like ammonia, chlorine and isopropanol. These can all irritate the skin, eyes, and throat, which can result in allergies, skin conditions, headaches and nausea. There’s always the danger of children or others ingesting them, which can be life-threatening.
We’ve been trying out many different cleaning products with these concerns in mind. We have been searching for products that use all natural ingredients. We want to ensure that the products we use are safe for our clients, our employees and the environment. After experimenting with many different products, we’ve been left disappointed. Promises of being eco-friendly have turned out to be false. Many have also had strong and artificial smells.
We’ve therefore decided to create our own multi-purpose cleaner. By making the product ourselves, we can guarantee the highest quality and ensure it’s truly made for a healthy home.
Our multi-purpose cleaning spray will have many benefits, including:
• Avoid irritations as it has no artificial fragrances or colouring.
• Fully safe for the skin with all natural ingredients.
• Create a gentle and pleasant effect of freshness in your home with added essential oils.
• Suitable for use on most surfaces, including steel, wood, and glass, replacing the need to have many different types of cleaning products in the home.
• Safe to use around children and others very sensitive to chemicals and toxic
substances.
We’re very excited to be developing this product and can’t wait to share it with you!
Cordless vacuums vs corded vacuums: Which one is best to keep your home clean?
Many clients ask what kind of vacuum cleaner is the best fit for their household. Should
they go with a cordless vacuum or choose a corded vacuum? The most important factor is
how well the vacuum cleans your house. But there are other factors to consider too when
choosing between a cordless vacuum and a corded vacuum. Let’s have a look at the
advantages and disadvantages of cordless vacuums vs corded vacuums.
Flexibility
Cordless vacuums are generally lighter and easier to move around your home without a
cord getting in your way. They are great for using on furniture, stairs or other small areas
that are hard to reach with a corded vacuum. They are perfect for daily quick vacuuming
after cooking or to refresh an area. They are also handy for spot cleaning after little people
and furry ones!
Corded vacuums are usually heavier and can be awkward to drag around your home. This
can be especially difficult in multi-story homes and large areas where the cord isn’t long
enough. They require a power point to use in each room you’re cleaning. Keeping the cord
out of the way while cleaning can also be annoying.
Storage
Cordless vacuums are a lot easier to store away when not being used. Depending on the
model, you may also be able to hang them up on a wall with a supplied holder.
Corded vacuums are typically heavy and bulky, so require a bigger storage area. They
can be awkward to fit into places such as cupboards when trying to keep them out of
sight.
Battery life
Cordless vacuums have limited battery life of between 15 to 40 minutes, depending on the
model you buy. You then need to wait on average for three hours before it’s recharged.
Turbo or boost modes, which are often needed for extra suction, also chew up battery
time quicker. Corded vacuums can be used as long as you like once plugged into a power point. You
never have to worry about running out of power half way through cleaning your home. You
can also use extra power whenever needed.
Dust capacity
Cordless vacuums have smaller capacity for holding the dust and dirt being vacuumed up.
This means you spend more time emptying them and cleaning their filters, while pet hair
can be difficult to remove. This lack of capacity can also affect their performance as it’s
more likely you’ll continue vacuuming when they’re nearly full and should be emptied.
Corded vacuums have far greater capacity for holding dust and dirt. This means you can
vacuum for far longer before needing to empty them or change their filters. This can be an
advantage if you suffer from allergies as you’ll be exposed to dust less often when
emptying your vacuum.
Suction power
Cordless vacuums tend to have relatively poor suction power because they rely on small
rechargeable batteries and motors. This can be really noticeable when vacuuming on
carpet and heavily soiled areas. As the battery drains, the suction power can decrease
even further. If you need one with stronger performance, choose a higher voltage battery
and a more advanced motor.
Corded vacuums normally have strong suction power as they are plugged into the mains
power and have bigger motors. They can use higher power settings without having to
worry about battery capacity being drained. They perform better on carpet and when
handling heavier cleanups.
Conclusion
Cordless vacuums can be a great extra cleaning tool to have at home. It’s perfect for daily
cleaning tasks, such as quickly vacuuming up crumbs in the kitchen instead of sweeping
them up with a broom. It can also be a good choice if you live in a small home without any
carpeted areas.
For deeper cleaning, we suggest purchasing a corded vacuum. It cleans more effectively
and is recommended for bigger homes. It has stronger and constant power without
needing to wait for the battery to be recharged. It also gives parents peace of mind that all
the dust and dirt is being vacuumed up properly to support their children’s health.
We recommend Dyson’s cordless vacuums because of their innovative technology and
stellar reputation. Our clients are also very satisfied with Miele’s corded vacuums as they
stay in good condition for many years.
